As the founder of North Root, Reid brings a passion for quality architecture, creating places for people, enhancing their lives, health and connection within the community. With roots in Sandpoint, Idaho, Reid continued his education at University of Idaho, then Portland State University to obtain his Masters of Architecture and a Certificate in Public Interest Design. After schooling, Reid worked in multiple commercial and residential focused firms prior to starting this firm. Reid is licensed Architect in the State of Idaho and Montana.
Throughout his career, Reid has worked on public service projects such as an integrated public park and food waste treatment facility and on Portable Adaptive Dwelling, tiny home shelters for Portland’s homeless. Outside of the office, you’ll find Reid hiking, rock climbing, traveling, and reveling in outdoor play with his wife and pets.
emily aune
ARCHITECT
Licensed - Washington, AIA
Emily is an architect whose practice bridges thoughtful detail-making with a broader commitment to community resilience. With a foundation in engineering from Stanford (B.S., 2008) and architecture from the University of Washington (M.Arch., 2013), Emily launched her career exploring housing models centered on connection and shared experience. She spent time working in New York, and Seattle, WA prior to moving to Idaho. Now based in Sandpoint, Emily brings her design acumen to North Root. She contributes a wealth of commercial architectural knowledge and brings a high level of consideration and detailing to each project.
When Emily’s not designing, she may be reading her book, gravel biking, or working on building her future home.
